To make things even better I'm driving the 9 hours from Winter Haven, FL to NOLA, because flying sucks dick when you're 6'7", even if you go first class.

I went to LSU in Baton Rouge and met my wife when she was going to Tulane in New Orleans. The city is nothing but one fantastic memory for me, so long as I forget about that bitch Katrina.

New Orleans streets are just more fun!

Hahah, yeah, I have such conflicted feelings about the place. Every time I'm there I keep asking myself why I don't live there. Then a long list of reasons comes rushing through my head, and I talk myself out of it. I hope it's still there when I reach retirement age, though. It'd be a great place to slowly fade out of existence.

I stay out of the Quarter unless I'm trying to get real freaky. So may be yeah, one or two of those nights.....

I have a deep affection for uptown though. I do my real drinking at the Columns Hotel. They've got talent behind that bar.

Yeah, that's about distance too. I'd rather have my car, have the flexibility, and not be subject to delays even if its just a hour and a half flight, I'm going to want to drive.

My wife on the other hand... At least she's joining me for the drive up, but she's flying back!

I only have one piece of unsolicited advice from someone on the gulf coast. Go eat at K-Paul's kitchen at 416 Chartres St. The restaurant doesn't have a refrigerator so everything they cook is brought in that day. Fresh doesn't even describe it. I visit NOLA often, and now I want to go again for that restaurant. You won't break the bank, but you will be thoroughly impressed.

You are very correct. I've actually been to K-Paul's a few times. I played football for LSU, and he hosted an event for the team during the sugar bowl one year. I found him to be a very cool dude. Unfortunately, I don't know if we're going to squeeze it in this trip. Headed out the door pretty soon. SOFA KING AMPED!
